The Stupidest Angel
A Heartwarming Tale of Christmas Terror

by Christopher Moore

Christmas crept into Pine Cove like a creeping Christmas thing: dragging garland, ribbon, and sleigh bells, oozing eggnog, reeking of pine, and threatening festive doom like a cold sore under the mistletoe.

Twas the night (okay, more like the week) before Christmas, and all through the tiny community of Pine Cove, California, people are busy buying, wrapping, packing, and generally getting into the holiday spirit. It is the hap-hap-happiest time of the year, after all.

But not everybody is feeling the joy. Little Joshua Barker is in desperate need of a holiday miracle. No, hes not on his deathbed; no, his dog hasnt run away from home. But Josh is sure that he saw Santa take a shovel to the head, and now the seven-year-old has only one prayer: Please, Santa, come back from the dead.

But hold on! Theres an angel waiting in the wings. (Wings, get it?) Its none other than the Archangel Raziel come to Earth seeking a small child with a wish that needs granting. Unfortunately, our angels not sporting the brightest halo in the bunch, and before you can say "Kris Kringle," hes botched his sacred mission and sent the residents of Pine Cove headlong into Christmas chaos, culminating in the most hilarious and horrifying holiday party the town has ever seen.

Only Christopher Moore, the man who brought you the outrageous lost gospel Lamb and the hysterical fish tale Fluke could have devised a new holiday classic that tugs at the heartstrings and serves up a healthy slice of fruitcake to boot.

Move over, Charles Dickens -- its Christopher Moore time.

Praise for The Stupidest Angel:

"Hilarity abounds . . . This little slice of perverse Christmas cheer is enough to make even the most cynical Scrooge guffae."
   — Publishers Weekly

"If any town could put the eerie back in Merry Christmas (whaddaya mean it's never been there -- aintcha read Dickens?), it would be Moore's cut-rate California coastal paradise, Pine Cove. Delirious!

--John (Fairfax, VA)

"…possibly Moore's funniest book to date. I laughed harder and more often than I did for any of his previous novels. Moore's trademark style delivers humor with cutting-edge, witty prose."

--John (Glen Ellyn, IL)

"The Stupidest Angel is full of delightfully deranged characters and imagery. Fans of Christopher Moore will be delighted with this book."

--Susan (Houston, TX)

"This book was so funny that I was laughing aloud while on the train to work. People were staring at me but I just didn't care. I've long been a fan of Christopher Moore and he outdid himself with this hysterical and truly fun novel. The crazy characters were so engaging and real that I really liked them in spite or perhaps because of their very nuttiness. It's been two days since I finished the book and I am still laughing and smiling at odd moments. Truly infectious!"

--Rogina (Los Angeles, CA)

"The Stupidest Angel will be the perfect gift to everyone on my gift list who enjoys a good laugh. This book is both the perfect introduction to Christopher Moore and a great experience for longtime fans who are nostalgic for characters from past works."

--Tracy (Seattle, WA)

--John (Tahlequah, OK)

"The Stupidest Angel was everything I'd hoped it would be -- a laugh-out-loud funny visit with some of my favorite characters. Dysfunction rules in Pine Cove, even in the graveyard, and Moore's collection of undead misfits cracked me up with their every word. Now comes the hard part. How many copies do I have to buy for the holidays?"

--Sara Leigh (Arlington, VA)

"The dialogue is snappy, the descriptions well crafted and witty. Everything about this book delivers on the promise of ‘funny'. Tears will stream down your face, and laughter will make your stomach ache before you are through. The Stupidest Angel is a great way to lighten up your bookshelf. It's a fabulous blend of new and old, a ‘must read' for both tried-and-true Moore fans as well as the newcomer looking for a holiday laugh. Ten stars out of ten."
